The GTEXMex project was approved by the research committees of the General Hospital of México (GHM) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

An informed consent document for the project was developed together with the Research Ethics Committee of the GHM to request permission from the relatives of the deceased individuals to participate as donors in the study, allowing the clinical pathologist to collect clinical information and tissue samples during a hospital autopsy procedure.
